Demi-Lune
Demi-Lune
Demi-Lune is a quiet puzzle game about ecological restoration.
You play as the collective effort of a village digging Zaï pits, traditional half-moon earthworks from the Sahel, to capture seasonal rainfall and redirect it to degraded soil patches. Taking the knowledge passed down from community's past, using the experience gathered from years of hard work, you hear stories of how your family approached these natural challenges
There is no enemy. There is no timer. There is only the land, your hands, and the patience to wait for what you planted to take root.
── HOW TO PLAY ──
- Click adjacent tiles to dig water channels from the Source outward.
- Each Rainfall Season sends water through your network automatically.
- Targets bloom into food forest after receiving enough seasonal water.
- Some restoration takes time. Some spaces need more than one path to heal.
── INSPIRED BY ──
The Zaï pit technique and the Great Green Wall initiative, a real, ongoing effort to restore degraded land across the Sahel region of Africa using traditional ecological knowledge passed down for generations.
